About the craft
Ajrakh is an ancient, labor-intensive hand-block printing craft primarily practiced in Kutch, Gujarat, using natural dyes like indigo and madder alongside complex resist-printing techniques. The deep natural dye penetration into the unprinted areas ensures the reverse side exhibits nearly identical color intensity and clarity, making the fabric practically reversible—a hallmark of genuine craftsmanship that modern screen or single-sided digital imitations cannot replicate.
