About the craft
Odisha’ Kotpad Handloom Weave received the Geographical Indication of India tag in 2005 and has proudly put Koraput district on the world map. The fabric is woven using vegetable-dyes making it extremely skin friendly and all season choice.
Kotpad dyeing is an entirely organic, manual, labour-intensive and long-drawn-out process. The dyes are made from bark and roots of the aal (madder) tree. It takes approximately 15 to 30 days for processing the color and dyeing threads into colors.
The colour palette majorly comprises of deep maroon to dark brown hues and depends on the age of the root bark and the proportion of the dye used along with iron sulphate.
All our products are made in India and we work across multiple weaver and artisan clusters to create our edits
