About the craft
Pen Kalamkari is an art form practised in Srikalahasti, Andhra Pradesh wherein the "kalam" or pen is used for drawing of the subject and filling in the colors, is entirely hand worked. The motifs are inspired by scenes from epics and mythology and flora, fauna.

- Bottom: 2.5m maroon handwoven ikath cotton from Telangana cluster
- Dupatta: 2.3 m and above handwoven kota cotton with hand drawn and hand painted pen kalamkari from Srikalahasti cluster

- Slight imperfections in handloom and handcrafted products is inherent owing to the manual process involved.
- To prepare the cloth for kalamkari painting, it goes through the application of many natural ingredients like buffalo milk and fermented jiggery, and thats the reason that these fabrics have an inherent smell.
