Express love for handcrafted this festive season . A handwoven silk by cotton kurta has been teamed with a handwoven woven silk by cotton dupatta adorned with hand painted kalamkari, crafted using natural colours.

About the craft

 Pen Kalamkari is an art form practised in Srikalahasti, Andhra Pradesh wherein the "kalam" or pen is used for drawing of the subject and filling in the colors, is entirely hand worked. The motifs are inspired by scenes from epics and mythology and flora, fauna.  

Description

  • Kurta: 2.5m handwoven silk cotton from Maheshwar cluster in beige hues
  • Dupatta: 2.3 m and above handwoven Chanderi silk by cotton with hand drawn and hand painted pen kalamkari from  Srikalahasti cluster

Please note that the kurta fabric will need lining

  • The colour may slightly vary due to camera lights and fabric sheerness.All shoots are taken in outdoor day light.
  • Slight imperfections in handloom and handcrafted products is inherent owing to the manual process involved.
  • To prepare the cloth for kalamkari painting, it goes through the application of many natural ingredients like buffalo milk and fermented jiggery, and thats the reason that these fabrics have an inherent smell.
