About the craft

Pen Kalamkari is an art form practised in Srikalahasti, Andhra Pradesh wherein the "kalam" or pen is used for drawing of the subject and filling in the colors, is entirely hand worked. The motifs are inspired by scenes from epics and mythology and flora, fauna.

    • Kurta: Handwoven pochampally double ikat cotton 2.4m and above
    • Dupatta: Handwoven Mangalagiri cotton 2.3 and above with hand drawn and hand painted kalamkari motifs in natural dyes

Fabric care

  • First time dry clean recommended
  • Wash with mild detergent afterwards
  • Do not soak for long hours

Note

  • To prepare the cloth for painting, it goes through the application of many natural ingredients like buffalo milk and fermented jiggery, and thats the reason that these fabrics have an inherent smell. 
  • The product colour may slightly vary from image due to camera lights, your phone settings and fabric sheerness. All shoots are taken in outdoor daylight .
  • Slight imperfections in handcrafted products is inherent owing to the manual process involved.
